Adopt a Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Poppy is incredibly sweet and loyal to a fault. She unconditionally loves those in her "family" and will allow them to do almost anything to her (including ear cleaning and teeth brushing!) without moving a muscle. She takes time to warm up to new humans and needs to acclimate at her own pace by sniffing and nose nudging with no fear of grabby hands or quick, unpredictable movements. The best way to gain her trust is to ignore her and allow her to come to you. Once she realizes you aren't a threat (and are made of treats) she will be well on her way to becoming your new best friend.

Poppy is extremely smart and full of energy. She loves running circles in the yard and is learning how to be a great leashed running companion. She has no problem entertaining herself when the situation calls for it and will spend hours playing with her squeaky animals or throwing a tennis ball for herself to fetch. When not on the move, Poppy is a world class cuddler. She believes closer is better and will sleep on any part of your body you make available to her.  She would do best in a quiet suburban setting with a couple or family with teenagers and a yard. She thrives on structure and rules which help maintain a routine that leaves no room for fear of the unknown. 

Poppy will do best in a one dog family. She needs slow intros to other dogs and should be limited to very small group interactions. She does great at quiet dog parks and has a walking buddy whom she adores. Poppy will love her new family with all her heart and give them all that she has. She is looking for a fabulous couple or family to love her right back and always make sure the house is stocked with tennis balls.
